Web Developer/Graphics Design Support 

Place of Performance: NOAA HQ, Silver Spring, MD 

Salary based on experience

Period of Performance: Duration of Contract

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Science, or related field preferred.

Minimum Experience Requirements: This position requires five (5) years of general experience of which at least two (2) years must be specialized.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support for the design and development of NOS and NOAA web sites and multimedia products that communicate NOAA science to the public
  • Assist in the development of solutions using current Internet technologies for presenting complex information in a compelling and user-friendly manner.
  • Assist in the planning of web sites, developing storyboards, and creating HTML templates using cascading style sheets and populating templates with scientific text and image content.
  • Train new website developers to use the office web publishing tools.
  • Document technical development of web sites so that webmasters can use the documentation for ongoing web site support.
  • Assist in the management of web site developer accounts and publishing files to public servers.
  • Design and produce communication materials.
  • Create original or use existing art or photos to develop new publications or products.
  • Possess and demonstrate knowledge of visual design and user interface elements and principles.
  • Proficiency in using Adobe applications to develop digital products (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator).
  • Export finished files in formats for print, video, or web publishing.
  • Assist in adding, processing, and maintaining accountable property within the NOAA Personal Property Management System.
