Security Analyst

ISS is looking for a (remote for now) Security Analyst to support the Veterans Affairs (VA), Office of Inspector General. Ideal candidates will design, develop, engineer, and implement solutions to Multilevel Security (MLS) requirements.

Responsibilities: 

  • Perform complex risk analyses which also include risk assessment 
  • Establish and satisfy information assurance and security requirements based upon the analysis of user, policy, regulatory, and resource demands 
  • Support customers at the highest levels in the development and implementation of doctrine and policies 
  • Apply know-how to government and commercial common user systems, as well as to dedicated special purpose systems requiring specialized security features and procedures 
  • Perform analysis, design, and development of security features for system architectures 

Specialized requirements for VA OIG:

  • Establish, operate, and maintain OIG’s Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation, monitoring, and incident response capabilities through expert-level use of OIG, VA, and other resources including but not limited to: Splunk, BigFix, ePO/McAfee, SMS/SCCM, QRadar, SolarWinds, Microsoft Security & Compliance Center, Amazon CloudWatch 
  • Create and publish/disseminate monitoring reports, including reports on the security and privacy posture of OIG’s systems, to the Authorizing Official and other OIG officials on an ongoing basis in accordance with OIG’s continuous monitoring strategy 
  • Provide information for incident response, e-discovery/litigation, and other authorized ad hoc requests 
  • Create and implement custom information extraction and monitoring in Splunk, BigFix, and other resources 
  • Maintain contact with various OIG, VA, and external resources including monitoring of email distribution list membership, monitoring of web/SharePoint/Teams resources, and participation in relevant OIG, VA, and external resource calls/meetings 
  • Maintain central repository of documentation in the OIG-specified system on using the various systems (administrator guides, user guides, training materials, etc.), code/scripts for specific monitoring or information extractions, and relevant communications from VA and other sources

Required Skills and Experience:

  • B.S. degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience 
  • Experience in the analysis, design, and development of security features for system architectures 
  • Experience using Splunk, BigFix, and similar resources
